PARVYN KAUR SINGH
Parvyn Kaur Singh was born in Adelaide, South Australia to migrant parents who were born in Malaysia, who are of Punjab heritage.
Growing up, Singh remembers being one of the few non-white families in her area. While Singh did not experience much racial prejudice, she attributes this to being the younger sister of a fierce woman.
Parvyn's family involved themselves in the local community by maintaining their roots, introducing locals to the traditional turban worn by Sikh men and through the sharing of Indian food, and were instrumental in establishing a Sikh community in the area.
These days, Paryn Kaur Singh is frontwoman of Bombay Royale. A band who describe themselves as the originators of a fresh new musical genre inspired by the soundtracks of vintage Bollywood films. Attending a Bombay Royale concert is more than an experience, it's an immersion into dance and movement. A high-octance musical experience that will leave you drenched in sweat from dance with a smile on your face.
The Bombay Royale is currently working on their third album, due for release in early 2017.
